Riyadh Marriott Hotels celebrate the launch of the green movement with GreenParking
Marriott Riyadh Diplomatic Quarter today announced the launch of the first ever network connected electric vehicle (EV) charging station for commercial and residential use in Saudi Arabia. The formation Program aligns with Marriott International sustainability goals and commitment. Marriott Riyadh Diplomatic Quarter is the first organization in Saudi Arabia to join this collective.“These charging stations are another step in making Marriott Riyadh a more sustainable hotel,” said Muin Serhan, the General Manager of Riyadh Marriott Hotels. “With electric vehicles becoming more mainstream, this will allow us to adapt our hotel infrastructure to meet a growing need for EV charging and also help us in becoming more environmentally friendly by supporting the use of electric vehicles which emit no tailpipe emissions.”
As part of the Riyadh Marriott Hotels’ commitment to promote environmentalism in Saudi Arabia, the Marriott Riyadh in Diplomatic Quarter is the first hotel to join GreenParking’s EV Charging Network – the only private, cross-border network in the GCC that allows all drivers to charge their electric vehicles for free. No matter the EV brand. Electric vehicle drivers who use the GreenParking App can now access the new state of the art eVolve charging station at the hotel. The charger is located in Marriott Riyadh Diplomatic Quarter underground parking lot and is capable of the fastest possible charging AC-power speed.

Marriott and GreenParking celebrated the moment in early November with an exciting inauguration event at the hotel, as the charger was opened to the public. Muin Serhan, the General Manager of Riyadh Marriott Hotels and GreenParking’s Sam Alawiye both spoke on what this means for the city, followed by an evening of live music, food and drinks.
As Marriott Hotels continues to embrace change, it’s obvious that this won’t be the last stop for Marriott toward a more sustainable future in the Kingdom.
